First day of arrival was very intense, when we landed in the airport we get a taxi and just say the name of the Uni in Mandarin and the road name. After that the taxi driver (one of those rare nice taxi driver in China) start a conversation with us and we reply feebly with our limited Mandarin turning it into a very awkward conversation for the 45 minute drive, at least for us not sure about the driver. Also I actually don’t have a place to stay in, the accommodation office just told me to come and they will handle it. Apparently they don’t have any room available for male student since my sister have a room available for her already. In the end I live in a hotel for 3 month that have a deal with the Uni so I got the room for cheap.

First day of University involve entrance exam that determine which class level is suitable for me. For the 3 month intensive program there are A, B and C, naturally I’m in A the lowest level since my Mandarin is close to 0.

Naturally in Beijing there are many food on street and cheaply priced. However as our Mandarin was quite low, we decide our first meal in Chinese would be a McDonald right across the road from the Uni. We reckon they have the default burger like big mac and so on and the menu should have english in it. We were wrong, the menu was all in Mandarin and the cashier doesn’t speak english what so ever, luckily there are picture (go meal set) so we order this new menu on special crispy chicken burger and a normal McChicken. Man those spicy chicken burger are nice, I will say this a couple of time but Beijing people sure do know how to cook their chicken.

The actualt first day of the class involve a lot of introduction, getting your textbook, knowing your teacher etc2. In my program we got 3 teacher, speaking, grammar and listening, I always get mixed up in speaking and grammar class since both of the teacher basically teach the something only using different textbook. Apparently my homeroom teacher is the speaking one and she is the same age as me !!!!! as seen below.

So recently my friend and I went to watch the above movie. Looking at the trailer I wasn’t expecting much, and it turn out my expectation was right on the mark.

This movie feel like a rip off of superman and iron man combine. The background story was, there are 9 alien kids sent to earth to escape the destruction of their home planet Krypton Lorien  by some fish fin headed alien called Mogadorians. Apparently the kids are now being hunted one by one starting from number one, apparently Mogadorians is a dedicated genocider.

For no explained reason they hunt sequentially from number one to nine. Also apparently the 9 kids each have legacies (superpower), our protagonist legacies is apparently glowy hand and super strength. The glowy hand does do some beam damage kinda like iron man hand thingy. Oh also he got the Force with him, using it to block projectile, push people around etc, but the glowy hand it sure come in handy in the dark.

Overall its an ok movie, and as expected of Michael Bay the effect is nice and there are lots of explosion (more like over the top explosion  boom boom, you should see what happen to their sports field after the fight, i though a bomb went off). I give the movie 6/10.

On wednesday 23rd of february my Sony memory stick  decide to went and go kill itself. I should see the sign of corrupted video data, but I choose to ignore it thinking it just some minor error cause by incorrect transfer data, however when I replace the video and pull the plug from the usb, it just does not read anymore. This cause some grieve with me because the memory stick was recently bought during my trip back to Indonesia, and contained many important game save. I often backup my game save, however I recently start playing Valkyria Chronicles II and haven’t got the chance to back it up yet which mean I have to start from beginning again orz.

I try many methods to make the PSP read the memory stick again like inserting paper along with the memory stick (apparently it increase the contact rate of the memory stick pin with the psp reader pin), resetting it countless time, inserting and ejecting the memory stick in hope it will read eventually. Alas its all wasted.

By googling all this method of trying to make my sony memory stick to read again, I found out that my memory stick is likely to be a fake one (here is a guide to know if yours is fake or not) . So i decide to just by a new Sony memory stick. I went online to estimate the price of a memory stick and the price range from $40-$120, depending on type and capacity. I decide to buy 16gb one since I often download game and watch  movie with my psp. In the  official website I found that it cost $99, so I decide to search on ebay and found a 16gb sony memory stick for sale for $65. However it does not come with warranty. So I decide to go to to my local sony store just for the heck of it and ask how much is the Sony memory stick. The attached price was $119 which was more expensive than the online price, however when the salesman brought it down the barcode say $99, and interestingly when he scan it its $69.90, so yeah epic price marking =D. The salesman is so nice and helpful, so by the end I just decide to buy it from him (since its only $5 difference from ebay price, and come with official warranty!!!). So yeah here is my new Sony memory stick the one on the right, and the left one is the dead fake one orz.

Another annoying cleaning is lawn mowing, in Australia it’s summer at the moment, all of you people who own a lawn should know what happen when you leave your lawn for a month in summer, now imagine that horror and times it by 3, that’s what I’m have to mow. Also when mowing I have to keep a lookout for stick that may jam the machine, that’s normal, however now i have to keep a lookout of insect, spider, rocks, stone, roots since it so overgrowth that I can’t see anything other than the canopy of grass =D. Especially spiders and their web, mowing and walking straight into a face full of spider web is not a good feeling. Interestingly the garden in front of my house is full of cricket. So everytime I mowed an area, I can see crickets (the insect ok not the sport in case you still don’t get it) scuttling about, with most of the time running from lawn mow machine, but a couple of crazy one run into it, which forced me to stop and backtrack and try to force them to run into another direction. When I finish lawn mowing, the end result is less than satisfying, since I have to make the level I trim bit higher (level 6, usually I do level 3), the grass still look bit untidy, but hey it will do =D.

Man my blog now become a place where I vent my raged. Hopefully my next post will be more cheerful. Still contemplating what Photos should I use for my holiday trip so it will take a while, before my holiday trip blog will come out.

In Alas, my grandma run a convenience store that sell many stuff. One thing that had interest me for a couple of years was an Energizer headlamp. So I decide to bought it and here it is

Its a 3 LED bulb headlamp, with one adjustable strap around it. 2 LED coloured is white, and the other one is red. The red colour is designed for people who go star observing at night. When observing star at night you eyes need to be adjusted to the darkness to see the star clearly. A sudden bright light will cancel this process. Therefore when one need to find something in the dark or read something they use a red coloured light. Apparently red coloured light is more easy on the eyes and does not damage your night vision.

Moving along the LED headlamp is also adjustable so you can make it point downward at an angle.

It ran with 3xAAA batteries that suppose to last for 50 hours, more than enough for me hopefully. For a price approximately $70 in Australia, I think this is a good fine and I’m happy with it. I probably used it for emergency lighting or when I go out at night.

Due to various activities in my life I have been inactive from my blogging. But now I’m back and let see if I can maintain the same level of activities as before. Sadly the cooking with rice cooker section will be cancelled because I don’t live in an environment where there is no cooking stove anymore =D. So yeah the blog now will be going to another new direction, one that features stuff that interest me once again =D. Stand by for my first post in 2011 XD.

Since I’ll be going back home soon this will be the last segment of cooking with rice cooker for a while since my home cooking appliances is more accessible (obviously).

Since I made a japanese pork curry with mince meat before, I try to make something different. Lets put the homebrand fish cocktail we had before to make fish curry.

Stir fry the ingredient. And then add water, by this stage I saw that the batter in the fish cocktail is falling apart but let’s keep going by bringing the water to boil. Add the curry cube and cover the lid

When I open the lid something interesting happen. The batter act as a solidifier making the curry consistency very thick and hard to mix.

By no the fish curry consistency was quite thick I feel like mixing a dough.

Strangely it look like chickpea curry, so I deem it eatable, and when I ate it, its not that bad actually but it is not a best.

I bought the homebrand fish cocktail. Instruction was to cook in oven, sadly no oven for me lol. I decide why not fry it? But I realise my cooking oil is downstair so margarine will do rite =D.

Verdict—>dont use homebrand fish coktail, dunno if it is the margarine or the batter but it fall apart too easily. and they don’t get crispy and very abosrbant to the margarine, making it soggy.
